Greetings fellow Durham neighbors:

 

My name is Karl Loftus, and I am reaching out to the Durham community to offer my services and skills as a craftsman in hopes of finding work during these tough times.  For the past 4 years I have served the Triangle area as the co-owner and head finisher at LR Custom Fabrication - one of North Carolina's premier custom furniture studios. Our work has been featured in Dwell Magazine, Light Art+Design, Acme Food & Beverage Co., and in homes and businesses across North Carolina. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused severe damage to our business. After months of closures, job loss, and little help from the federal government we have made the hard decision to close our doors for good. 

 

In addition to my work at LR Custom Fabrication, I have over a decade of experience in residential/commercial painting, high-end finishing, and furniture restoration.

 

 If you are interested, my offered services include:

• Antique/vintage furniture restoration
• Furniture refinishing
• Mobile refinishing (for example I can strip and refinish a dining table where it stands using a 100% dust-free vacuum sander and replace the old finish with a very durable, plant based eco friendly finish)
• Furniture repair

 

*I specialize in working with Eco-Friendly, low VOC/green products and clean, odor-free paints, stains, and finishes. Traditional solvent based paints and coatings are not only bad for the environment, they can continue to off-gas in your home long after drying, causing serious health issues.
