Jack & everyone,

I was just reading all the e-mail addresses on this list and realized
there's going to be a CRAZY, CRAZY group of "individuals" at this
reunion. That is, if everyone shows up. That's why I'm writing.

As much as I'd like to participate in the festivities; including the
meeting with my "friend Bill", I'm afraid I won't be there. My wife,
Sue, and I budget for one trip back East per year. This year my
brother's oldest is getting married in September and I'm not going to
tell my niece/Godchild that I won't be at her wedding because I spent
time with a bunch of crazy people in April.

Also, kind of hard to get away from the office when everyone is
sacrificing to keep the doors open. Business in the Baking Industry
is extremely difficult in the current economy and has been for well
over a year. Very few bakeries are allotting money for capital
expenditures; least of all in the donut department. All our remaining
employees (layoffs have taken 34%) are working 32-hour weeks to help
keep their co-workers employed. Being in sales it's incumbent on me
to spend all my time trying to find the business to keep us in
existence. I don't feel I can afford the time away - not even a
couple of days.

Not much to talk about anyway. Still in the baking business (since
1980) selling Sweet Goods equipment - primarily for Donuts, Fried
Pies, Honeybuns. Moved to Duluth, MN in 1996 when my former company
was sold to my current company. Couldn't pass up the new job offer.
Not too bad up here; just a little on the cold and snowy side; but,
it's a dry cold. Very little humidity!

Still married to Sue - will celebrate 32 years of marriage this August
- and no kids. Tried for the longest while to have kids; with no
luck. Got fat, still somewhat ugly, still wearing glasses (didn't
like contacts), and shaved my beard back in '87 or thereabouts. Do
some business travel and have been several places in this world other
than the North American Continent.

Sorry I'll miss all of you - especially you Condon (was looking
forward to reminiscing all the way back into the Elementary School
Days) - but it's got to be this way. Can't blow the budget now.

Hopefully I can see all of you at the 50th; or will we wait another 30
years until the 80th?

Talk at y'all later,
Charlie

Too bad Charlie, was looking forward to it. Thats right we go back to
grade school at St. William's along with Rick Grochmal, Huntsy, Len
Streckfus and Richard Lange...only 45+ years now. Man where did it
all go. Still remember the day Kennedy got shot, alterboys, the first
CYO dances, Sister Helen Virginia, Catfish.....Father Albert,
LOL!!! BTW don't give us that "dry cold" B.S. -20 is still -20.
We'll miss you Charlie.
