Subject: Gold Street Resource Centre - Proposal

hi guys...and another thing...for info.
lucie, can you email to PAD list + let anyone know up there who might be
interested?
a, can you email gagged list?

ta.

dear all,

below is a proposal for an activist resource centre, very close to the
previous location of PAD.  we'd like to discuss with this list whether we
can use all or some of the money remaining from PAD to get this off the
ground.

we'd like to invite anyone who might have an interest in an activist
resource centre, or had an interest in PAD to a meeting / gathering at
'Gold Street Resource Centre' on Wednesday 26th April, 2011 at 7pm  If you
need any further info, please let us know.

Gold Street Resource Centre - Proposal

The purpose of the Gold Street Resource Centre is a practical space for
organising libertarian social change.  It is space for campaign groups to
work; to meet, to research, to write.

We've chosen to name the space as a 'resource' centre, as opposed to
naming it a 'social' centre because we think that, principally, we need a
space for organising rather than socialising .  Our emphasis is on
gathering information and challenging authority, meeting people and
working with organisations.

Currently the space has been used by a variety of groups including No
Borders, Climate Camp Cymru, Food not Bombs, Women Seeking Sanctury
Advocacy Group and anti-deportation campaigns.

Resources.  The space will have a  phone, internet, computers, scanner /
printer and a fax machine.  It has a workshop space and tools, storage
space and materials for banners,  a meeting space, a library and agit prop
and a mobile kitchen.

Practicalities.  Access is free of charge and requests to use the space
are made to the centre key holders.  Ordinarily access hours are 10am to
6pm.  The rent is paid for by donation from a local workers co-op.  The
costs for running the space are electricity and internet.  (see financial
plan below)

Organisation. The space is organised through monthly general meetings.
There is a 'secretary' and 'treasurer' (in principle), keyholders, a bank
account, an email work list and a blog.

The key outgoings are electricity (to run a fridge, lighting and
computers), internet and phone connection and stationary and cleaning
supplies.  We also require a capital investment to superficially improve
the room.

Financial Plan- 2011-12
Gold Street Resource Centre has a relatively small financially commitment,
as it shares premises with an existing business, using spare space.

Monthly Costs.

Phone £30
Electricity £20
Post £5
Sundries £5

Total £60

Start up cost Costs.

Internal decoration including floor sanding £240
Internal Painting £60
Insulation £24
Security £45
External Paint £60

Total £429
