Last night saw our joint meeting with SWLUG (S.Wales Linux Users Group) - who had an especially good turn out - so all-in-all about 20 of us.
(Actually most of them were SWLUG folk - but I'm sure there was plenty of geeky overlap in interests.)
Steve brought along an Atari Punk Console
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_Punk_Console he had built at the recent Maker Faire UK in Newcastle
and also a cheap plastic happy-meal-style toy to demonstrate just how easy circuit bending is! (I'm encouraged to have a go myself now...)
This is exactly the kind of thing we need more of for our Show&Tell - great fun!
(I'm going to have to bring something interesting to show&tell next time... I don't know what though...)
Also, one of the SWLUG guys (Chris) - was talking of doing a hot-air-balloon web-cam project using a Gumstix module
http://www.gumstix.com/
(Does anyone have his contact details? It sounds like a fun project!)
There was also talk of the next meeting being at the Otley in Pontypridd - even without wifi I reckon it could be good...
Cheers
Howard
