Greetings all,

The team has responded and it turns out this is a Photoshop bug. Rather than bury it in Photoshop forum we are going to keep this primary thread in the Lightroom Classic forum. Once the PS team fixes the bug, the Classic team will update the implementation for the Windows instance.

Thank you for your reports!

Follow this thread for updates as they are available.

When the 'link' between Lightroom Classic and Photoshop has issues, one of the first things to try is this:
1. Use the Adobe Creative Cloud application to uninstall both Photoshop and Lightroom Classic and when asked, keep preferences.
2. Install Photoshop first, then Lightroom Classic. The order of the product installed is what is very important here.
Better?

I have Photoshop 24.4.1 and Photoshop Beta installed everything is fine with open in from LRC pickes the latest verion of Photoshop 24.4.1 but when an update for Beta is installed that becomes the version LRC opens as the defualt only way I have found to fix it is to remove PS and reinstall until the next time.

Thanks for posting as I have same problem. Using latest version sof Windows 11 and Adobe LR Classic and PS Beta. Tried all th fixes. No luck. LR opens image in Beta no matter what. Had to uninstall. Will try again in a few weeks. Thanks.

If you have problems or need answers from other users who volunteer their time to help, do so in a discussion topic and message body, whereby you post specifics (what's the problem or issue, or the question) and provide some information about your operating system, version of the software you're asking about and steps to illustrate your problem.

I wish I had got this message BEFORE I installed Photoshop Beta on my Mac yesterday. I found the Beta so annoying and uninspiring that uninstalled it through Adobe Cloud. Now I am in the same situation. I cannot open images processed in Lightroom in Photoshop. I will go through the recommended drill and uninstall and reinstall Photoshop and Lightroom Classic, too, if I have to but it is a super aggravation and waste of time.

It's working now. I did the uninstall reinstall and once again, I can process in Lightroom Classic and open in Photoshop 2023 - but it did waste my time when I did not have time to waste. I guess this risk goes along with trying out a Beta. I will be reluctant to do so in the future.

I am here because I stumbled into this mess installing the beta and then uninstalling it when I got the Lightroom Classic-to-Photoshop photo transfer problem described here. Annoying! But I am not here to pile onto the well-deserved complaints. Instead, I have a question about the uninstall remedy described in this thread: If I uninstall Photoshop, do I lose my settings (workspace), fonts, brushes, etc?

Thanks.

I was doing exactly what "Michel Brub" mentioned and it works. This is a better workaround that uninstalling and reinstalling the softwares. I hope Adobe comes up with the solution sooner. Thank you !!

Not for me. It always opens now in PS Beta. Since Beta did not pick up my settings, I'm uninstalling it for now. It did do an absolutely beautiful job of removing a piece of a car and completing a bicycle wheel which was behind the car... So sad... I geuss this is why I almost never play with betas.

In this section, I want to spend a few minutes to give you an idea of the different available versions of Lightroom. There are two available versions of Lightroom. There's a Lightroom as part of the Creative Cloud Photography plan. Then there's also the standalone version of Lightroom.

It depends on the kind of platform you want to use on Windows 10, eight, seven, or even for the Mac OS. But there are advantages to having Adobe Photoshop Lightroom through the subscription model on the Creative Cloud plan. And that's because you get a whole bunch of access to different applications. As part of the Creative Cloud plan on the photography plan, or $10 a month, you can access Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop, and the Adobe Lightroom mobile. You can, of course, synchronize your photos using the cloud. But there are more details that you can take a look at for yourself by clicking on www.adobe.com/products/Photoshop-Lightroom/versions.html. And you can check out the versions and the kind of options that are more important to you.

I would say that the benefit of buying the standalone version of Lightroom 6 is that you get the license to use that application perpetually. But if you do get it as part of the Creative Cloud, you get Lightroom updated continuously through the Creative Cloud membership. You can always use Lightroom as you, of course, pay for your monthly subscription price. Now, the best of both worlds. I prefer using it in the Adobe Creative Cloud because, of course, there are a whole bunch of features that you don't get with the standalone version.

However, it might be advantageous for you to buy it once and continue to use it. I want to mention that Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is based on the Adobe Camera Raw engine, and the camera engine is continuously updated. Through the Creative Cloud Photography plan, you get updated versions of Lightroom all the time. You are always up to date with the standalone version. If you buy Adobe Lightroom 6, you're going to get all the updates for version 6. Then that'll be the end of it. When Adobe moves to Lightroom 7, for example, you're not going to get access to that unless you buy another standalone license. That's why if you get the Creative Cloud membership, you're going to be perpetually updated as long as, of course, you subscribe to the Creative Cloud. So those are the options that you can do when you're working with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

With 1TB of online storage space, the excellent Photography Plan 1TB lets you backup and sync approximately 20,000 RAWs or 200,000 JPEGs across your desktop and mobile devices, giving you the ultimate in editing freedom and peace of mind.

This is essential for most people. Adobe Lightroom Classic launches faster, generates previews faster, imports and exports faster, switches between modules faster, and generally feels much snappier than previous versions of Lightroom.

One of the most significant performance updates came in 2019 when Adobe introduced GPU Accelerated Editing. This allowed Lightroom Classic and Adobe Camera RAW to use the latest powerful graphics cards (GPUs) while editing, providing a smoother and more responsive experience.

This is a huge benefit. Some of my most used tools have only been released since Lightroom became a subscription service, so they cannot be used by anyone with Lightroom 6 (the last non-subscription version of the software).

These include the ability to edit videos, choose attractive creative profiles, the excellent new masking features, super-resolution to enlarge images and the AI-based subject/sky selection tool, a massive time-saver (see screenshot and video below).

While there are several other good alternatives to Lightroom, none of them offers such a wide range of editing tools, robust import/export capabilities, complete image management, seamless multi-device integration and cloud backups as Lightroom.

You can purchase Lightroom on its own or as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan, with both plans starting at US$9.99/month. Lightroom Classic is available as part of the Creative Cloud Photography plan, starting at US$9.99/month.

Typically, a Lightroom user will only use Photoshop to edit or manipulate images in a way that Lightroom cannot. Similarly, a Photoshop user will use Lightroom in order to organise, cull and add keywords to a library of images.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC is the renamed version of the original Lightroom application. It is optimised for desktop-focused workflows, including local storage of your photos in files and folders on your computer.

Lightroom CC: Adobe stores your original images for an additional year after your membership lapses. During this time, you can continue to launch Lightroom CC to download your original files from the cloud.

Lightroom (Lr) is a cloud-based digital photography software that works on desktop, mobile, and web. Lightroom Classic, on the other hand, is a desktop-only version of the software that uses the local hard drive as storage space.

Whether you purchase it from adobe.com or the App Store, the Adobe Lightroom cost is $9.99 per month as a yearly subscription paid monthly. If you purchased the prepaid annual subscription plan, you pay a sum of $119.88 per year.

The Adobe Lightroom Classic price is $9.99 monthly, whether alone or inside a Lightroom and Photoshop bundle. If you prefer to pay the annual fee upfront, the Lightroom prepaid annual subscription costs $119.88 annually.

Many believe that with the massive revenue Adobe has created by encouraging its users into this model, it is now more able to invest heavily into the improvement of Lightroom, Photoshop and every other creative program we all rely on.
