Fwd: Car Cast

I asked a friend for some help with tweaking an image.  He volunteered to do his take on what carcast should look like.   He is an experienced designer and user experience engineer.   He has already made some great suggestions.  

Attached is his first pass at what he thinks car cast should look like.  I think he did a fantastic job, although some things might be easy to implement and some harder.   But I wanted to share his work with everyone.

I think there are a lot of improvements in here. Some comments:

Player page looks much better. However, I am still puzzled by the
prominence of the record/microphone button. I'm not exactly sure what
it does or how it works, and I've certainly never used it. The main
function I use is play/pause. I'd recommend swapping placement and
size of these two. Also, I'd recommend against having the same
microphone image be used for record as well as (in the menu) for the
podcast list.

I also want to mention that I'm a big fan of spacing out the lists,
that makes them much clearer. I think some of this is already in,
right? I noticed the podcast list is a bit easier to use right now.

I don't think Arron understood that the microphone icon is kind of side thing for Car Cast. I like your idea of making pause/play huge and easy to hit.

I did look into changing the menu's to match Arrons work, but alas the Android menu doesn't seem to be customizable (concerning background color,
foreground color, or font type.) I really liked Arron's icons. Arron, can you invert them so they are black on gray? (I'm not sure if this site
is useful or not... http://android-ui-utils.googlecode.com/hg/asset-studio/dist/index.html )

I also agree that the microphone should not both be used for "podcasts" and for "recording audio notes." Which one should change and to what?

Yea, Arron practically smacked me for my list spacing. He kept talking about how the lists are supposed to be finger sized and have icons (from the
subscription/feed source.) So I immediately removed the URL from the subscription screen... I still need to implement the slight zebra stripe to the
backgrounds.
