Hi Everyone,
I am looking for someone who knows about Nano VNA's. I would like to have a program for our activity meeting that can show us what and how a VNA can be used. How you set-up some of the different functions and just make it easier to use.
Thank you, 73,
Dan, WY7DG

This is perfect timing, Dan! My NanoVNA simply sat on a shelf for the
past year. And now I intend to use it to verify the impedance of freshly
terminated LMR200 and RG8X coax cables from a Wouxun and Elecraft inside
my shack out to their antennas.

My metric may qualify as the simplest of all NanoVNA measurements. With
a 50 ohm load, a dot on the 50 ohm resistive axis of the NanoVNA's Smith
Chart indicates good coax. It's OK if the dot's slightly smeared.

I look forward to learning more about the NanoVNA from other people at
the activity meeting.

Thank you, 73, Don, KB7RPU

I've signed up to lead this activity on the 19th.

Topics will be:
- book stuff (e.g., what is impedance)
- calibration
- measuring antenna impedance
- testing coax
- testing ferrite mixes
- using computer control

There will be some up front talking about the things a VNA can do and then it will be fairly hands on.  I have a few NanoVNAs that I'll bring, but if you have your own, you'll likely get more out of the activity.  The smaller versions are available on Amazon for about $50.  I have bought the AURSINC brand and have not had issues.  If you email me directly (mlea...@gmail.com), I can send you a link.

Thanks.

This will be good for me to better understand. Thank you, sir.

Regards,
Charles
And, just like that, the bands went away.

Mike, do you want us to bring anything for checking measuring, like antennas, coax and all?

That's a great point, Dan.

I'll bring a number of examples, but participants should bring anything they want to test:
- antennas and dummy loads (anything that goes at the end of coax; smaller is better for this activity, just make sure it works within the frequency range of your VNA)
- attenuators, band pass filters, etc (anything that would be in line with coax)
- coax
- ferrites (there's a specific fixture that's needed that I'll bring)
- adapters to connect everything together to the connector on their VNA
