About the job

As Lead Process Engineer at Mote, you will develop the next generation of system-integration technologies for Mote’s carbon removal facilities, which gasify woody waste biomass and convert it to hydrogen for transportation and CO2 for geologic storage. Working with Mote’s Technology team and reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will design, evaluate, and innovate on Mote’s process. You will use process simulation and critical analysis to develop improvements and create next generation plant designs. Your job will balance fast-turnaround work products and design decisions for Mote’s demonstration plant with longer-term research and development for Mote’s future facilities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Oversee the development and analysis of Mote’s process models, including heat and material balances, process unit simulations, optimization studies, and multi-criteria design comparisons.
Identify opportunities for heat integration, efficiency improvement, carbon intensity improvement, capital cost reduction, and other innovations on Mote’s existing process flow.
Co-author patents, internal reports, and occasional peer-reviewed articles.
Assist Mote staff on technical aspects of permit applications, financial models, and business development.
Assist the Project Manager in writing Requests for Proposals and evaluating proposals and bids from vendors and contractors.
Work with research partners at National Labs and universities on early stage development questions.
Work creatively to meet company needs and identify opportunities to achieve Mote’s goal: removing gigatons of CO2 from the atmosphere.
