*** The Centre for Climate Repair, Cambridge is delighted to invite you to its Methane Conference on 28th September , 10am - 4pm BST ***

Just a reminder that the CCRC one day virtual conference on Methane Removal and Emerging Technologies is less than a week away.

The conference will focus on the science and engineering of methane removal from the atmosphere and highlight emerging technologies which have the potential to be scaled up to GtCO2e / year removal. We will also discuss the policy frameworks currently in place for dealing with methane in the atmosphere and whether these could be further developed.

This conference focuses on methane - its current influence on the climate crisis, how to detect and measure methane, and methane removal methods. We will start with Prof Peter Wadhams reviewing the significance of methane as well as gaining an understanding of the effects of methane emissions on indigenous communities from Dr Tero Mustonen. Professor Euan Nisbet will then go on to explore detection and measurement.

We will move onto methane removal technologies, focusing first on photocatalysis. Arianna Cox will look at modelling gas flow over catalysts while Wei Li and Prof Philip Davies will talk about use of photocatalysis on a small scale, and its potential to expand globally. Prof Matthew Johnson will then speak on the generation of chlorine atoms for global scale photocatalysis. We will also cover the technique of direct air capture and zeolite methane removal as Rob Jackson will be speaking on his latest research into the topic. Nestor Rueda-Vallejo from Blue Methane will join us to speak on methane mitigation technologies and their application to hydropower reservoirs, an all too prominent source of methane emissions.

Climate solutions are not only about the technology involved. We will take a look at the governance and politics surrounding methane mitigation techniques, with Daphne Wysham from Methane Action who will be speaking on the current issues surrounding science and policy.

The day will close with a facilitated panel discussion, taking Q&A from the in-person and zoom audiences.
