rode 258 miles, quite shy of my ride last year (304), All I'll say
is that I wasn't feeling right the day before the race or the morning
of, nearly tossing my breakfast after 10 minutes on the trainer to
warm up at an easy spin before getting outside to the race. I hit the
200 mile mark nearly 3 hours earlier than last year, and as the 12
hour time elapsed, had only ten miles fewer than Dennis Johnson, who
is a tough tough racer. So I was doing well and as won my way to my
goal of RAAM qualifying. But I had stomach trouble all day and just
couldn't fight it after the sun went down.. Otherwise, I planned my
race and raced my plan - Even when my plan had to change last minute
due to the insane weather. My body just wasn't as committed as my
head. Ironically enough, my feet were fine, which was the big problem
last year. I could say more, but mostly I'm just disappointed.
Having this poor a performance makes you wonder whether you should
even
bother, but I'm still hoping I have it in me to do well at this
game.
I'm even considering racing the Hill Country 600 and try and qualify.
Haven't decided if it's worth it to try just yet,

Greg, I think you should give HC600 some serious thought. It would be a
good comeback from this year's Sebring. But, there is a lot more logistics
involved in a follow race than a 24 hour race! Time is short and if you are
seriously considering HC600 you really need to get a move on it! Do you
need vehicle lights, signs, PA, and navigation? I could ship you out what
you need to race this. You have to drum up your own vehicle and crew :-)
There just aren't all that many Texas events, you should take advantage
after all.

In other news, I'm working the HC600 angle, so thanks to David B, no
matter how it turns out.
