I noticed in Willie's RAAM postings that he has a 24 tooth low ring
and a 54 tooth large ring. I have a Raven Sport with a 30 tooth small
chain ring. The hills around here are kicking my rear end and some
lower gears sound great for my legs. Willie does the 24 tooth cause
you any problems? Looks like to me that I have to remove the crankset
to change the small chain ring. I have FSA Gossamer is it very
difficult to remove that crankset? Any other tips hints ideas?

The FSA Gossamer left crank arm is easy to get off with a hex wrench,
just loosen the 2 bolts. The crank will slide out, then you can
change the triple ring with a torx wrench. Ask Dana for the torque
spec (I do not remember). It can be done in 15 minutes with the right
tools, even for an amatuer mechanic. I've changed out my triple rings
a number of times with both my 08 Corsa and 09 Carbent. The Corsa
Alta, I've left as is, because JV built it with a 24 triple ring,
since I supplied him the parts anyway.

Thanks Willie for the info. It has been many years since I have had
to work on a crankset and things are different now. Glad to hear it
is really easy to do. Dana sent the documentation for the crankset
along with my bike so I have all the torque specs. So I'm all set for
a little modification now.
