If so, since our users may come from a number of countries and
places within a country, is there a way to determine what the
appropriate loc value should be for a given user?
If the user creates a booking in a city other than their home city (say in Portland), will this booking show up if their home city (say Austin) is passed as the loc parameter?

the location parameter is still required but you'll see all bookings of the user including also the ones in other locations.

there is an update on that topic. We plan to remove the location parameter from all requests where it is not necessary any more. I keep you posted as soon as I know when we're going to change that.
