Hey Chan, yes you can add me. However in May please don't get offended if I don't reply until a week or 2 have passed!
We organised most of them at GS (though they have since opened their own car wash), with one or two at The Point. I was only involved in one at The Point, and I think one of the ones I missed was there as well. GS gave us water, and of course the space. They lent us some buckets too. At The Point, they also gave us water and space, and they also gave free parking (I think for 30 mins) for anyone who comes for the car wash.
Buckets and sponges we have at SPYS from previous car washes. They had been sponsored (together with car soap), though I'm not sure by whom. Matthew will possibly know from whom the sponsor had been (and if not, I think I know who of the volunteers had got it, so we could always ask them!). I'm not sure if they are still all there, so we may need a few more. If we don't get a sponsor, then they could come out of the monies collected. They wouldn't cost much.
When we organised it at The Point, we had also got a sponsorship for t-shirts. They had SPYS printed on one side, and Stradivarius and other clothes labels on the other side. I have no idea who gets Stradivarius to Malta, so I don't know who the sponsor was. They weren't high quality t-shirts (in fact, low quality), but they were free, they had SPYS on it, and we were in a "uniform".
D'ohhhh, just realised I had a car wash at The Point last year, and another one 2 years ago, and I'd gone for both. But I don't feel like deleting where I already wrote I've only been to one :)))
Re time, I always wanted to do it from 9am to 7pm (though we'd have to be there no later than 8am). However we always ended it by 4 or 5pm. On one rare occasion we extended until about 5:30. There are two reasons for not going on until 7pm... people do stop coming and it slows down, and volunteers do get tired washing cars, especially when every car is done in a rush to keep up with all the cars! If we were to manage 3 shifts of 3 hours each, with 10 people per shift, then yes, it would be easy to have a 9 hour car wash without getting tired. But the reality is that experience tells me that at SPYS, we won't have anywhere near those numbers!!!
