As I write this, I’m preparing to go on the most physically demanding challenge of my life: a week-long hike at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. This trip is a milestone for several reasons: it is the last trip my son will go on as an Eagle Scout (he turns 18 in August), it is the last trip with my son before he goes to college, and it’s the last High Adventure trip we will be doing with our Boy Scout troop. It’s also an opportunity to bond before he moves into his dorm.
