At the California School for the Blind (CSB), we provide educational outreach services through the Statewide Outreach Services (SOS) and Education Resource Center (ERC). We are dedicated to providing no-cost consultation, assessment, training, and technical assistance to educational teams and families of blind and low-vision students throughout California.

White Cane Day 2025: Celebrating Independence and Community

The California School for the Blind (CSB) proudly hosted our annual White Cane Day celebration on Thursday, October 9, 2025. The event honored the independence, mobility, and confidence of individuals who are blind or have low vision. Students, staff, families, and community partners came together for a full day of activities designed to educate, empower, and inspire.

Day of Code is Back - Bigger, Bolder, and With More Robots!

Thursday, November 20, 2025. Day of Code is landing on the California School for the Blind (CSB) campus, and this year we're turning up the energy with more robots, more maker space challenges, and more chances to meet new friends from near and far.

Tech After Hours

Are you looking for practical solutions and expert guidance to enhance your students' access to technology? Our monthly workshop series is designed specifically for teachers of students with visual impairments (TVIs) and other professionals in the field of blindness to ask questions, explore challenges, and gain research-based strategies that you can implement immediately in your classroom.

Highlights from 2024-25

The California School for the Blind’s Statewide Outreach Services (SOS) and Education Resource Center (ERC) had an exciting 2024–25 school year! We provide free statewide support—consultation, assessment, training, and short-term educational programs—to ensure every blind, low vision, and deafblind student can thrive in their local schools and communities

Summer Academies 2024-25

CSB’s Summer Academies are week-long intensive courses offered each June, both in person and online, to provide Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) instruction and enrichment for blind and low vision students. 2025 marked a record-setting summer with 19 academies offered, 18 in person and 1 online, serving 116 total participants.

Supporting Mental Wellbeing: CSB at the 2025 National Braille Challenge

The California School for the Blind proudly celebrates the outstanding contribution of May Nguyen, MS, LEP, NCSP, who presented at the 2025 National Braille Challenge Finals in Los Angeles.
