Hi,

On thinking this over, I love Amanada’s flower idea, or mary lou’s piece of cloth/scarf  idea, and I will be there. See everyone at 4/30.

Trish

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

I'm sure the DFTM folk are tired today! It was such a great show and the work showed so well and strong! Congrats again.

I hope that some of you will see this email and respond, I know that the convocation issue has been a difficult one (yet another it seems), but at least weigh in on whether or not you are going to attend, or will it just me Amanda and myself!?

Hope to hear from some of you today.

Best, ML

Hi all,

Convocation is on Monday, June 2 at 6:00pm.

I believe we can pick up regalia at 4:00pm.

If you haven’t signed up yet it’s not too late. Details here:

Mary Lou has confirmed that we can use the SD room on campus to figure out our final plans for convocation. I would like to suggest that anyone who is interested in participating meet in AR204 at 4:30 after picking up regalia to discuss how we want to cross the stage in a way that is comfortable for everyone and sends a message to the president.

I like Mary Lou’s idea (see below). What do others think?

Am I missing any graduates that are planning to convocate?

Please feel free to include others in the discussion.

See you Monday!

Amanda

Hi Amanda,

I would like to talk to all involved and hash out some ideas. I had thought about the regalia issue and certainly wouldn't want anyone to have to pay for anything.

Here is my new thought and reason why.

I really feel that you graduating students are entitled to your convocation and to be congratulated for you work, so on that level I would like to see you convocate. Given also the dignity and integrity that you all have shown over the year, I also would like to see an action that maintains that. My idea is inspired by just finishing Ruth Ozeki's novel, Tale For A Time Being, and anyway a lovely scene where someone bow's (actually in this case a Buddist Nun) to people who are disrespecting her. I wonder if this would be appropriate, that as we walk by the president we bow to her and we could leave at her feet either a strip of cloth, the arm bands, something we are finished with?

What do you think about this idea? And would you pass this along, and see what people think?  We could meet up for sure in the SD room and finalize any decision.

BTW, what a great show (DFTM).

Best, Mary Lou

Hi Mary Lou,

At least 4 of us are going to convocation. Might be more. We pick up regalia at 4. Wondering if the surface design room would be available for us to use to meet up before the ceremony?

Also, we need to return the regalia after the ceremony. I’d like to check in with you on that and see how we can make sure it all gets returned.

Let me know if there is a better way to get in touch.

thanks,

Amanda

Happy convo friends! Remember all the goodness you have received and given in those two rooms. That goodness is the gift no one owns but you. Honour that which was always going to end with your graduation. Tonight is not for the Them, it is for YOU.
Love,
Wendy
