Shoe Weaving & Dance Performance
April–June 2015 at Trillium North Park

Terroir means a sense of place. It is the sum of the effects that the
local environment; geography, geology and climate, can have on a
product created from the land. In wine making, Terroir refers to the
land imparting a unique quality to the grapes grown specific to that
growing site. So, what are the plants that grow here for fibre?

We are gearing-up for our final spring session with Terroir,
culminating with a shoe weaving & dance performance project lead by
Sharon Kallis and Mirae Rosner.

We will begin by weaving our own shoes according to a type of
'flip-flop' sandal pattern.  All the materials will be those grown as
part of the project. We will then work with the shoes and as an
ensemble to explore our personal connection to place, specifically the
site at Trillium North Park, and then shape our experiences and images
into a movement piece that resonates with the site’s sculptural and
sensory elements.

Each dance research session will leave time for us to explore
different aspects of movement and reflect on our own perceptions of
place, especially in relation to our bodies. We will also have some
musical collaborators involving song and percussion... more details
about them to follow soon.

The project is open to anyone who would like to dance with us and can
commit to the days and times, outlined below. Follow the links for

so far.
