Team,

Now that we all have submitted our respective revised sections to Chris (Chris, please let us know if you have all the sections), I wonder if we can address Ryan's suggestion about holding an all team conf call this week to discuss the big picture. Does the team think there's a need? My sense is that Ryan would rather like to be kept in the loop prior to next draft delivery. Does anyone have anything you'd like to bring up while incorporating  all the comments? And given his tone in the edits, think Ryan does expect to see a drastic improvement in the next draft. I, for one, am curious to hear what Ryan has to say about "the big picture" and gauge his expectation. If we have enough interest, let's set up a time to talk to him soon.

Best regards,
Joanna

Team,

ADMIN

As we get down to the wire on this project, I want to make sure that everyone is comfortable with their material/data/etc. Anna and I have gone over a timeline of deliverables for the next 7 days. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS PLEASE REACH OUT AND ASK THEM NOW! One week from today I’m planning to hand Barbara and Philipp a final draft.

While I don’t think that we need to, I’m open to doing a full team conference call to discuss big picture issues this week if you guys would like to. If you would, please coordinate with Anna or Mario and have one of them reach out.

Also – with respect to the presentation, I would imagine it would make sense to just repurpose the charts/tables/graphs from your paper. I’m sure you’ve already thought about that, but just wanted to make sure it was on your minds as well.

CONTENT

Following the first draft, just a few big picture issues I want to bring up as you’re all finalizing your sections:

1.       Remember that the audience we’re writing for may never have heard of EM fixed income before. We need to make sure we don’t take anything for granted in terms of tacit knowledge we may believe them to have.

2.       You have all done a lot of research and understand what you want to say to make your points (that’s half the battle). However, making sure the point comes across clearly is the other half of the battle and needs to be done with painstakingly clear language. My suggestion (I do this all the time with hard topics we write about) is to give your work to someone who has never seen it before and then ask them to explain it back. If they can’t, chances are what you wrote wasn’t clear enough.

3.       It is very helpful to use examples in a number of the sections as it brings the discussion to light a bit more. I noted this in my comments.

4.       Please be careful with repetition (Adam mentioned this as well and it was littered throughout my comments) Make a point, make it well, and then move on. No need to belabor a point just to take up space. Obviously, certain sections will need to repeat info that was mentioned earlier in the paper, but within sections this shouldn’t happen.

Thanks for all your hard work on this and keep your eyes on the prize! You’re almost published wall streeters!

Looking forward to a great final product,

Ryan

Subject: Follow-up E-mail - Adam's Draft Comments

Dear Ryan,

As requested in our call, I am attaching the draft with Adam's comments, which we will be  incorporating along with yours in our final draft. Thursday you will be able to see what the new version looks like, and talk to Chris (I believe you will e-mail him directly to set up a time) to discuss what you want the editing to be exactly because he starts doing it. On Sunday Adam will be sent the final version for a final review; we will incorporate his comments and make the last adjustments before sending you the final draft on Tuesday. I have also copied all the members of the team so they are fully aware of the timeline and the progress of the project in terms of logistics.

Please let me know if there is any further information you require, and as usual do not hesitate to reach our if you need anything.

Sincerely,

I would wait to see how the Chris call goes.
He has made his views clear so the ball is in the team's court to respond with a revised version!

Hello again All,
I've compiled all the updated sections into one file. Please, when convenient, give your own section a once-over and let me know about any problems in terms of ordering, missing content, etc. I'm planning to send this to Ryan at 9 am. Thanks.
Chris

PS. I will be adding my own section about risk in the morning.
