Josh

As we approach year-end, I wanted to share the attached Insight Piece from the Investment Strategy Group at Goldman Sachs.

A key strategic asset allocation theme this year has been advising Investment Committees to reduce their strategic exposure to Emerging Markets.

Our Investment Strategy Group has repeatedly called attention to the shared and specific fault lines of emerging markets over the last four years when making the case that US preeminence is intact and sustainable.  These well-entrenched issues—from poverty and pollution to government interference and woefully inadequate infrastructure—were largely being dismissed in the rush to proclaim the rising power and influence of emerging market economies.

As we brace for the possibility of underperformance and heightened volatility in the Emerging Markets over the next five to ten years, we invite you to review our analysis of these issues and our recommendations for client portfolios in the Investment Strategy Group’s recent publication titled: Emerging Markets: As the Tide Goes Out.

I look forward to following up with you in the year ahead,

Happy Holidays,

Jessica
