Hi everyone,
So at last Monday's meeting I reported that we ended up collecting about 200 signatures on petitions calling for a public federal G20 inquiry.
Unfortunately, even with all of the rallies across the country, even with the support of the CCLA, Amnesty and many more strong voices, we haven't seen anything happen. yet.
I'm going to send some e-mails and make some phone calls around to see what more we can do. I don't feel as though we're done, though the issue is quickly being swept to the side. I'm not happy until we have an inquiry.
If nothing else we would like to encourage everyone to send e-mails to their MPs, to make phone calls, to write letters, to do what they feel is effective, to still call for the inquiry. Expect an e-mail hopefully tomorrow (we're just organizing some links for the e-mail) to ask you to do this. It will go out to the larger e-mail list.
On a semi-related note, we also discussed having a dialogue in about a week and a half. This dialogue will be extremely small. It is an invitation from some CAPP organizers to a few black block organizers. It is a follow up to an invitation they suggested during the July 17 rally that we discuss our different tactics and we discuss how to work together (if we want to work together).
This is to be dealt with extreme caution and we want to keep this as quiet as possible, for the integrity of the discussion. if you'd like to discuss having this dialogue further, I encourage you to come to the next CAPP meeting on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 7:00 pm, still at VCC Broadway Campus. Please e-mail me with any concerns or comments you have.
In the meantime, please keep hope strong and the will alive. There is a lot going on in the world, but I still feel strongly that we need to ensure something is done to look into why our human rights were violated.
With hope,
Ashley
