Hi everyone,

First of all, thank you so much for all of your support. You are rockstars. It is groups like this; people who care about an issue enough to come together, share ideas and put those ideas into action, that make me proud to be here.

So then, what's next?
I think we're good to take a bit of a break but I'd like everyone to keep thinking about how to keep momentum up. If I have time this week I'm going to head out with the petitions and get more signed. Hopefully that brings up more discussion.

How does everyone feel about having a wrap up meeting on Monday, July 26, 2010, 6:00 pm at VCC-Broadway again? We could even shift to 7:00 pm if that works for more people.

Let me know!

Ashley

Hey there,

One thought that has crossed my mind (but it is too late for this
summer)-is we might consider applying for a booth at next year's Van
Folk Fest (community tent) and/or the Pride Parade as part of a larger
awareness raising/outreach strategy (i.e. about CAPP). I had joined
the Pride Parade with the Fair Vote group a few years ago and we
distributed 2000 plus cards with info about their project (was
inspired to see how it has become a space not only to advocate for
GLBT issues, but also other social/enviro issues as well).

Not sure if there are any other events into August that we might want
to have a presence at? e.g. Justice Rocks?

There's the Under The Volcano festival coming up soon.
Also, thank you so much Ashley for really pouring yourself into this. It was a great rally.

I agree with Shari. Having a personal presence is a great way to continue connecting the public with this issue. Justice rocks is August 15th

Want me to see what is invovled with getting a table? We could have MP contact info and a bullet point fact sheet on the status of the  public inquiry.

Cheers,

Paul

Yes please find out how to get a table at Justice Rocks! That would be great. Scott was telling me about it. Sounds like a lot of awesome.

Dayla, what is the Under the Volcano festival?

I'm happy with meeting on July 26 and whatever table we could get at whatever event. The only question is the obvious one about our finances and if we can afford tables.

Thanks to Morag's fund raising, this event cost us a total of $15. That leaves us about $200 from the May events.

I am also good with meeting on the 26th.

Hey everyone
a) please hit reply all so both groups can get this e-mail. People in the CAPP Vancouver G20 google group, would you like to be added to the main capp google group? People in both of the groups I'm sorry if you get double e-mails >.<

b) I agree, we need to check into the prices.

Does anyone have some sort of list of all of the possible tabling events with fees? If not, can anyone just keep suggesting events that they know of and we'll look into them?

Ash

Social justice is a big part of the festival, so I think we'd fit in. Tables are only $25.

Justice Rocks no longer has tables available, but we have been given the option of roaming around and handing out literature.

Yup. 6 pm, VCC cafeteria. Bring receipts if you bought something for the July 17th rally.

See you then,

Paul

Yes, I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow at 6:00 pm at VCC-Broadway Campus in the cafeteria (second level).

Along with doing a wrap up of the 17th I'd like to talk about the possibility of doing another dialogue on forms of activism.

I would also like to talk about how we might create culture in Canada for voting and participation. However, I think at this point that part of the conversation would be just fine around drinks after the meeting. SO if everyone is feeling it, I invite people to come share a pitcher of beer or to have whatever other beverage you prefer :-). I haven't sorted out the location yet. We might just go to Timber as we normally do but it does get quite warm in there. Another option is always heading over to the Cambie or ...well wherever.

If you can't make the 6:00 meeting but would like to come for drinks feel free to text me to find out where we are: 778 552 8178.

See you tomorrow!

Ashley
