Eduardo Mendoça, Brazilian Traditional & Contemporary Music Solo
Performance
The Cultural Awareness Foundation announces a spectacular solo
performance of Brazilian music by Eduardo Mendonça on Saturday March
26th 8pm at the Bahia Brazil Art Center at 2512 SE Gladstone #200.
Tickets are $10 in advance at

$12 at the door, $10 for students. Proceeds will go towards
supporting disadvantaged youth in our community and help provide
scholarships for Capoeira Kids program through 2011.
Eduardo Mendonça, a native of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, traces his
lineage to a royal African family bearing the hereditary title of Mama-
Beka (“prophet of the royal court”), and has a remarkable performance
resume, including: performances for legendary Brazilian musicians
Geraldo Azevedo, Roberto Menescal, Alcione, and Jorge Ben Jor. In
addition, Eduardo has had the honor to play twice for the 14th Dalai
Lama, Pope John Paul II, Nelson Mandela, and Brazilian President João
Baptista Figueiredo. Eduardo has received numerous awards for his
achievements in the performing arts, including “2007 Outstanding
Brazilian Male Singer based in The U.S.” and winner of "Tribute for
Excellence and Achievements in Advancement of Performing Arts and
Education of the Brazilian Music in 2006".
The Cultural Awareness Foundation is a non-profit organization whose
mission is to share Brazilian culture with Portland, Oregon through
movement, music, and art. The Cultural Awareness Foundation was
founded in 2004 by Almiro Aquilino to bring the vibrancy of Bahian
culture to Oregon and North America.
