Dear friends of Clean Air Baltimore Coalition,
Join us for our 3rd info session on zero waste goals - this time on the topic of deconstruction, next Tuesday, August 17 at 7:30PM.
Our city has 15,000+ vacant buildings. While some should be reused and remodeled for affordable housing, demolishing the rest would lead to toxics in the surrounding environment. This is where deconstruction comes in - where a building is taken down piece-by-piece, minimizing environmental impacts and maximizing economic value of the recovered materials.
This reduces waste drastically, keeping more materials from incinerators and landfills, and facilitates numerous economic opportunities!
Come learn more about what deconstruction looks like in Portland, OR, and what a deconstruction ordinance could look like in Baltimore! We'll be joined by Councilwoman Ramos (District 14), and have a Q&A session - all in one hour!
