make a REAL plan to get off fracked gas!
New York’s energy regulators recently released the long-awaited “Gas Planning White Paper,” revealing their plan for our state’s fracked gas utilities. Unfortunately, their plan, while making some improvements to business as usual, does not demonstrate a path for phasing out gas. Regulators brazenly ignored 190 elected officials and 130 organizations that called for a “managed, equitable, affordable transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.” Now we need to tell them to go back to the drawing board and come up with a real plan.
Fossil fuel corporations see the writing on the wall that they are an outdated and poisonous way to power, heat, and cool our homes. Governor Cuomo’s agency that is tasked to regulate utilities is just not doing their job! They’ve not only ignored millions of New Yorkers who fought for a fracking ban and the plethora of fracking infrastructure projects across the state over the years, but now they are trying to present their failure of a plan as some kind of groundbreaking victory patting themselves on the back while essentially laying out no plan to phase out fracked gas. We are outraged.
Cuomo is directly in charge of this. Call Cuomo today at 877-235-6537 and tell him we are in a real climate crisis. Go back to the drawing board and make a REAL plan to get off fracked gas!
Also, if you want to really pack a punch, let’s show them how much people-power we have and flood their system with comments. Our goal is 5,000 by June 4, 2021. Can you join the movement to push back on this no-plan plan that keeps business as usual for the fossil fuel industry?
