SURVIVING HIP-HOP: A DIALOGUE WITH DREW DIXON

 November 20, 2024
 3:00 PM
 Multipurpose Room, Campus Center Extension
University at Albany (Uptown Campus)

Free and Open to the Public. Flyer attached.

This event features Drew Dixon, music executive/producer, artist, activist, and an important advocate for the game-changing New York State Adult Survivors Act, which expired in 2023. She was also the subject for the HBO MAX documentary film On the Record (2020). In a dialogue, moderated by WGSS Professor Janell Hobson, Dixon will speak on current issues connecting the music industry with the #MeToo movement, and feminism with racial justice, as well as women's leadership behind the scenes and in the public sphere.

This event is co-sponsored by the Departments of Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies; Music & Theatre; Africana, Latin American, Caribbean, & Latinx Studies; Political Science, Languages, Literatures, & Cultures; BILPOC; the Institute for Research on Women; and University Auxiliary Services. Refreshments will be served, and music will be provided by WGSS major Bree Langston, aka "DJ Trifecta."
