Bummer. Not going to make this one - I'll be on a very long
sardine-class flight to San Francisco.

Catch you next time.

Cheers

Hi all

I need to get a Rails app out there and thought I'd ask who you'd
recommend to do the hosting.
(And for that matter anyone you'd not recommend)

Thanks
James

For shared hosting I believe dreamhost is the best deal. I am keen to checkout mor.ph sometime. Has anyone else?

I use Slicehost (really friendly and helpful, and choice of platform
which you can reset whenever you like, and good console (written in
Rails)). And I hate Joyent (only 'cos I'm not the greatest sysadmin
out there ... they don't make things easy for you.).

HUGE ditto on slicehost, i love them and there are several solid tutorials for getting set up. Also, if you're going with them you should check out deprec 2 (officially still 1.99.15 or similar), it saved me hours of typing, waiting, compiling, etc.

Thanks Joerg and Ivor.

I must say Slicehost does look very good.

Which meeting room? The last time I was at the bandwidth barn (on
Buitengracht) there were many. :-)

Ah, is _that_ what that room was called. Thrilled to hear we're not
meeting in one of the smaller rooms. :)

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm using Joyent for some rails apps on both their 'Shared
Accelerators' (shared hosting) and 'Accelerators' (dedicated hosting
on the cloud). I don't want to sound too over eager but I've been
hosting stuff there for years even prior to being employed there.

Regards

I second that - I'm a *very* happy Joyent user.
They're technically very sound, and clearly love what they do.
