Cockpit Locker Hatches - What are the pro's and con's of having the hinges inboard or outboard?  Thanks, Cy.

Hull Renovation - Hopefully, there is a photo attached showing the status quo of my effort. This hull build was started about 20 years ago; work was stopped due to illness of the original builder after several years. The builder was one of the initial group of US builders and a member of the recently discontinued Yahoo Group. The hull was bought as a kit from a now defunct firm in New York State. After the initial builder became ill, the hull was partially protected from the weather in an unheated shed, but unattended for about a decade.  Last summer I began my effort by renovating the keel and preparing the hull to receive a sheathing of fiberglass.  The sheathing is both to impede water penetration and to provide structural support and abrasion resistance. The foremost aspect of the keel had twisted and needed to be faired. One thought I have about the cause of the keel twisting was the possibility of uneven lateral stress between the two garboards and over a decade of humidity and freezings the keel was pulled off center. The majority of the hull planking is Maranti plywood. The garboards fore of the center plate opening is Okoume plywood that was scored to accommodate the design form. Additionally, the fir planks on either side of the keel's center plate opening had torqued enough to make the centre plate opening pinched in places; they were replaced last summer. My hope is to finish the sheathing and faring of the hull, turn it  over and get enough of the deck, cabin and cockpit finished to keep the rain, snow and ice out of it this winter.

Mast - Probably worried the mast enough with planes and sandpaper to call it round enough.. thank you Andre for the pictures of your process.  I would like suggestions for best process to ensure that the three holes that need to be bored through the mast are properly oriented.

Bowsprit and Mast Cap - I found a turner to taper the bow sprit and turn an oak cap for the mast.

Thanks in advance for any insight about locating the locker hinges in the cockpit and any advice about how to best bore the three holes in to mast,

Cy
