I have been building my CH21 in Perth Western Australia for 6 years now. Slow progress as I work full time. I have also been learning as I go and have greatly appreciated Dudley's prompt responses on the many occasions that I have had questions. I hope to be finished in 12 months but perhaps that is wishful thinking. Either way, building this boat is the best fun I have ever had so thanks Dudley for designing her. Dudley's Australian agent Ron Jesche (Stainlessboatworks in Adelaide) mentioned that there was another CH21 being built in Western Australia. I am very pleased to hear this and would like to make contact. By the way, my boat will be named SURPRISE because I will be just as surprised as everyone else when I finally finish it.

Thanks for introducing you self. I have been at it for almost 7 years now and hope to be finished at the end of the year. I started with no experience other than renovating a mirror and a pacer. So I learned as I went and you probably have more experience in boat building than me. Even so, I am happy to offer what ever advise I can from my experience. Very happy to meet up and chat. I have noticed that there is an old gaffers association of Western Australia which have regular regattas. It would be great to have two CH 21s featuring in those. Good luck with the build. It’s been an incredibly enjoyable and rewarding journey. Can’t wait to start sailing her.

Hi Daniel,I have no boat building experience but have been involved in construction most of my working life so I'm quite confident on the tools and measuring things out accurately.It will be the method of doing it, doing it correctly and using correct materials that might catch me out. There will be alot of research. I've watched that old gaffers society on You Tube and it looks fun, plus they would have alot of sailing experience I could learn from. Once I build my boat I will have to learn to sail too because I have almost no sailing experience.I'll be building a shed in the next couple of months and then starting the boat. Definately would like to meet up before I start just to gain a bit of advice from someone who is actually building one. I'll get in touch nearer the time.
