I've purchased plans and the dwgs to cut the plywood myself.

Anyone cut their own panels on CNC? Any recommendations on bits?

Also, Can anyone recommend good places to buy Okoume Plywood in the southern US?
Thanks!
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy, the most common router bits for cutting a plywood kit are 6mm or 1/4" diameter straight bit.

For good marine plywood you can buy from Chesapeake Light Craft in Annapolis (https://clcboats.com) or try World Panel Products in FL or NC (https://www.worldpanel.com/). I recommend that you use okoume plywood. If you want to use meranti or mahogany plywood then at least use okoume for the bottom panels in the bow. Whatever you do, don't use fir plywood anywhere in your boat. It is unstable, warps out of shape and the surfaces crack badly.

Dudley,
Just to verify before I drop a bundle on plywood. On worldpanels site they have this.

Okoume BS 1088 Marine Plywood 2440x1220mm

Price $86.60

Is that gonna be the right size to cut down with CNC?
Thanks

Actually I have the dwgs….

I think these will be tight, might have to move things around a bit

Hi Jeremy, Dudley has designed the boat to be nested on 2500 long sheets. You can get away with 2440 long sheets if you are cutting them out by hand, but will need the longer sheets if cnc cutting. Ron
