Yes it was originally inspired by Marney.
As it turned out, I decided that I didn't want to mae as many tweaks to the design as were made with Marney. The key changes I made at the time of build were:
1) The base of the rear berths are slightly higher than the design envisages (but make sure the sitting headroom is OK for you)
2) Putting the teak deck on - I used 4mm teak (to keep the topside weight down) embedded in graphite filled epoxy)
3) I put enough polystyrene in to inaccessible spaces for positive buoyancy. It has not compromised useable space at all.
4) I put hinged seat backs on like Marney. This is incredibly useful storage for charts, books, lifejackets, harnesses etc and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Other then that, I felt the other Marney tweaks were over-working things. No regrets since on that front. All my tweaks since have been in the light of experience or necessity:
- solar panel on top of the hatch garage because the boat is kept on moorings
a mainsheet horse (fitted since the video)
- I chose to have a jib rather than genoa (Dudley has dimensions)- no regrets there either)
I decided on electronics to just have VHF, chart plotter, depth (no log). With just LED lights on board, battery life has never been an issue.
The paint is International 2 pack - flag blue and mediterranean white.
I had a blast building it. Cant wait to do another once Louise has fully forgiven me for 3 years of neglecting her during the build !!!!
Best wishes
Brian
