I read about this, it's pretty interesting. The cost ratio is not really any better than going out and buying a gun, so it's not going to really put more guns out there for people who can't afford them. But, it will eventually make untraceable guns more available if you have the money. Right now, that's not so likely either because you need a really high end, high resolution 3D printer to print the parts and they're only available in pretty highly regulated facilities. Something like a makerbot isn't going to cut it.

But, the Objet 3D printer probably could produce any number of parts, I looked at buying vs. leasing one of their machines last year for a business I was looking to start, printing architectural models and other commercial products that would be profitable.

One of the most important lines of the documentary is that a firearm is a tool, the young man went on to say something to the affect that a tool in the wrong hands can cause harm, but the same goes for any tool.  I couldn't agree more.

Just for full disclosure, I am a U.S. Veteran with a Class A License to Carry in the State of Massachusetts.  I took and oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

I think the documentary is a good one, if nothing else it allows everyone a starting point for a conversation, not finger pointing or accusations.

Its interesting. I dont feel strongly either way about it but figured it could spark a conversation. I figure people can make their own guns legally without a 3D printer this is just a tool that may make it easier.
