Dear APRCEM Disability Constituency Members and Colleagues:

Trust this email finds you all well.

As we tried to convene our Constituency's meeting on Friday, Feb 18 but were unsuccessful. Only a few showed up. Then, this is a call for our Constituency's meeting on Tuesday, 1 March 2022 at 330pm Fiji time. The focus of our meeting is to share and discuss the selected members for 2022 APFSD, prepare for this year's APFSD and Peoples' Forum, revisit and clarify our own roles and responsibilities before seeking support from IDA for APFSD and Peoples' Forum, and brainstorming on what we need from IDA-make a list and share with IDA. It's also an opportune time for discussions of lessons learned from last year's APFSD and better/improved coordination this year.

I also like to share key points discussed at Feb 18 meeting and hope this will guide us in moving forward with being an active and strong Disability Constituency in our region. The summary of this meeting will be shared soon by Telesia at the PDF Secretariat.
  1. Telesia to retrieve, review the complete list of members of Disability Constituency as well as their contact details and verify email addresses (updated and valid), to ensure equal representation from each sub-region. Then, Villaney to request another member volunteer from another sub-region to cross-check the list/database.
  2. February to end of March 2022 Disability Constituency to work on 2022 Peoples Forum and APFSD
  3. Focus on our draft statement/key message for the 2022 Peoples forum and APFSD, work on the previous statement/revise, and have statements ready to present
  4. Strengthen the 3 Working groups within our Constituency-Advocacy, Capacity Building, and Communications. A pending task: Not being able to find a sub-regional focal point. Depending on the APRCEM election results, PDF may continue as secretariat support/Focal Point. PDF submitted a nomination for 2nd term. After all, we need to seek IDA’s support towards Advocacy and Capacity Building Working Groups and strengthen our Constituency.
  5. Early April-Better work plan for Disability Constituency
  6. Respective members are encouraged to generate membership in each sub-region for fair representation.
I will send another email update regarding this year's Peoples' Forum and APFSD.

Thank you and looking forward to seeing you at our meeting on March 1.

Kind regards,

Villaney
