The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce monthly board meeting was held
with review and approval of the current year's budget taking place. A
money market account was earmarked as designated funds for a new
visitor's center, giving us a substantial amount as a beginning! In
reviewing 2006's business and budget in comparison, and with an
increase of 118 new members or about 30% growth for 2006, it was voted
to increase annual Business Membership Fees in order to meet the needs
of the community businesses. It has been four years since the last
increase. This increase will affect businesses only, and will make a
change to lower-level fees for one's second business. Across the
board the annual Business Membership Fee is now $150.00 for all
Business Members with the exceptions of non-profit organizations. Non-
profit and Associate Memberships will remain at $50.00. It was
approved for the Administrative Director to increase part-time hours
to full-time. In addition, and effective January 2007, a $35 fee has
been put in place to accommodate the change of a business name after
the first 30 days of membership. While operating our Visitor's Center
staffed with 15 Volunteers each week and two paid staff, a name change
involves 4 different people, 2 or more locations on our website and at
least one place in our custom brochures, which are available online
and require updating weekly and re-posting to the web after
corrections/changes are made. Please contact Jaynellen or Bonnie if
you have any questions or need more information at 964-2223 or
ad...@canyonlakechamber.com.
Don't live down to expectations.
Go out there and do something remarkable. ~ Wendy Wasserstein
IMPORTANT: Please make a point of dropping off brochures. Attention!
Restaurants: Visitor's love to walk out of the Visitor's Center with
your menu in their hands and directions to your restaurant!
Attention! Realtors: Visitor's love to walk out of the Visitor's
Center with photos, details and market statistics information in their
hands! Attention! Retailers: Visitor's love to walk off with a
brochure of your offerings in their hands! Attention! All Businesses!
Provide your business information in an interesting format with
details and directions to your place! Make sure they fit in our
brochure racks! If you would like more information or if you would
like to volunteer in the Visitor's Center, please contact Jaynellen or
Bonnie.

may pay your annual dues, radio show, sponsorships plus event fees and
more! Phone, mail, and/or in person.
CANYON LAKE BUSINESS NETWORK's
April 19th ~ 6:00 - 7:00PM ~
Topic: "Security for Businesses" Speaker: Corporal Tim Kolbe
Anchor's Landing Family Restaurant
$2 for snacks
Join the community to hear Corporal Tim Kolbe speak about securing
your business from the inside out. Follow his expert advice for
additional security measures. Ask questions and get answers! Take
advantage of this free service, and everyone's invited! If you have
any questions about the meeting, contact B. J. Thomas at
210-602-7446. The Business Network is for the entire community, so
take advantage of free information! Please R.S.V.P. to the Chamber at
964.2223.
The Chamber's July Business After-Hours Mixer is a short time away,
but it is a very important mixer. July's Mixer contributes to the
Serve & Protect Program and this year's recipients are the Constables
from Districts 1 & 4, Shane Rapp & Ben Scroggin. Their need is for at
least one defibrillator at an estimated cost each of $2,000. If we
are able to provide two, they will place one in each patrol car.
These two fine gentlemen patrol Canyon Lake and the Guadalupe River
areas for our community. Each year Cathy Wingert of Wingert Insurance
Agency challenges all other insurance companies to meet or exceed her
contribution, so watch for upcoming details about that! Last year the
Sheriff's Office & Officers received over $4,900 from the Serve &
Protect Program that purchased digital cameras for each patrol car,
eliminating the sharing of a few cameras among them all. That
contribution was greatly appreciated! Please keep this program in
mind as July approaches.
The Chamber has a MASCOT! It's a fishy situation! A few folks are
going to have a great time participating in this Mascot Program for
the Chamber of Commerce. Learn a new skill! Have a ball! Get
involved in your community! CALL TODAY FOR MORE INFORMATION! Do you
want to know how to get a message across without uttering a word? Do
you like to make people laugh? Learn dramatic skills and non-verbal
communications. Contact Jaynellen at 964-2223.

Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce is a drop-off point for KLRN's Blazing
Gavels Auction. In addition, this year we are bringing our members
together creating some great package deals from our area for auction.
If our area businesses will provide a total of 27 items or gift
certificates, each valued at $100 or more, 'Canyon Lake' will enjoy
enhanced promotion for an entire evening that otherwise or
independently wouldn't be affordable! Put your heads together!
Our community will receive extensive on-air exposure before KLRN's
2,000,000 viewers in 30 counties throughout South Central Texas!
Benefits such as a 30 second video presentation about Canyon Lake
would be aired 3 times; 22 minutes of television exposure devoted to
our community; be included in the Auction Buyer's Guide; the 30 second
video would be included in the Auction Preview - a 30 minutes program
which airs several times, and more! Please contact the Chamber for
the letter, benefits and donation form. April 1 was the deadline to be
in the Auction Buyer's Guide; May 1 is the deadline for the Auction
Preview. This cannot happen without YOU! Please consider the great
results this group effort could produce! For more information contact
the Chamber or Katherine Warmack in KLRN's Auction Department at
