2007 Canyon Lake & Guadalupe River Relocation and Visitor's Guide
We are working with a shrinking deadline to include all of our Business
Members in the 2007 Canyon Lake & Guadalupe River Relocation and
Visitor's Guide. This coveted Guide is put together by the Canyon
Lake Times Guardian Newspaper who prints and issues 30,000 copies!
Once printed, Times Guardian places them in local businesses. Canyon
Lake Chamber of Commerce ships thousands to Texas DOT Travel Centers,
to Texas Chambers of Commerce plus we place them at Hill Country Resort
and The Summit. This guide is sent in response to Visitor and
Relocation inquiries as well as handed out to most every visitor
passing through the Visitor's Center in Canyon Lake. If you have not
updated your information at the Chamber, this is your final opportunity
to do so! If you have a business neighbor that is not yet a member,
NOW is the time to invite them to join. This Guide is printed only one
time each year and our Business Members are included for no extra
charge. This year we are including: Business Name, Phone, Email and
Website. If you would like to advertise your business in this Guide,
please contact the Canyon Lake Times Guardian as soon as possible.
Time and space is running out! Call the Chamber for new or updated
membership 830-964-2223. Call Times Guardian for advertising

HABITAT FOR SAFE SENIORS
Help/Volunteers/FUNDS Needed
Habitat For Safe Seniors has a lot of great community projects in the
works, targeting help for our local Senior Citizens. Not only are they
getting a 'new' Senior Center by relocating an existing building
with community help, but they work consistently on helping out Seniors,
with little or no income, who can't do things for themselves like
they used to! Repairs to Seniors' homes are a regular function of
Habitat For Safe Seniors. The Food Bank is an ongoing project. This
organization has also worked very hard and met the requirements to
receive a grant from the Kronkowsky Foundation to further benefit our
local Seniors. This week, Habitat is receiving its second truck
shipment of Handicap Ramps, with only the cost of shipping being the
immediate expense. What a blessing for local Seniors in need of ramps!
But, the shipping is an EXPENSE. Relying on donations and grants,
Habitat helps Seniors year-round. Expenses like shipping are hard to
cover, without help from the community. Receiving two shipments at a
cost of $1,500 each, Habitat is trying very hard to come up with
$3,000. Approximately $1,600 has been raised so far! Visit
Habitat's website to view and read about the great things they do for
our locals! http://www.habitatforsafeseniors.com/ Get in the
Christmas Spirit of GIVING to a worthy cause and help out our local
Seniors through Habitat For Safe Seniors. If you are interested in

THE GALLERY COFFEE HOUSE New Exhibit
If you would like to experience the city of Venice, Italy through the
eyes of a photographer, you are in for an exceptional experience. THE
GALLERY COFFEE HOUSE invites you to enjoy Reflections an Exhibition of
Photography by Darryl Patrick. Centering on a photographic record of
Darryl's extensive travels in Italy and in particular the majestic
city of Venice, the exhibition is a delight.
Darryl manages to capture not only the renowned canal system, but, also
the magnificent architecture of this historic city. Darryl uses the
water almost as a pallet to reflect buildings which have withstood the
test of time and have been shaped by a culture that respects
permanence.
Above all, it is the light of Venice which the photographer uses to
reveal the myriad of broad piazzas and decorative detail we know as
Venice.
Anyone who has ever seen Venice will recognize the beauty within the
photographs, which bring to the viewer a sense of the many facets of
the city itself. There is a feeling of peace in the images, which focus
on the parts of Venice away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist
sectors. Anyone who dreams of visiting this most historic of European
centers will enjoy sampling Mr. Patrick's expert eye for detail.
The exhibition runs through December and to mid-January at THE GALLERY
COFFEE HOUSE at 1405 FM 2673 in Sattler, Canyon Lake, every day except
Tuesdays. In addition to this nice Exhibit, John invites you to enjoy
The Gallery Coffee House for small gatherings, including for business,

internet access! For details and opening hours call 830 964 6467.

LAKE LEVEL: 901.57 RIVER FLOW: 59cfs
A recent article in the San Antonio Express News, by Winter D.
Prosapio, described Comal County growth as a flood. Comal County
leaders are trying to find short- and long-term solutions for the
strain on the infrastructure, such as the roads and water. From 1990
to 2000, Canyon Lake's population nearly doubled, according to the
2000 U. S. Census. The median home price has increased from $145,000
to $180,000, according to the Canyon Lake Board of Realtors. County
Engineer Tom Hornseth estimates just over 1,500 families are moving
into the county every year. Last year, more than 400 homes were built
in the Canyon Lake region, according to estimates from the Comal
Appraisal District. Last year, Canyon Lake's population was
estimated at 40,000, and recent planners think that could double every
15 years.
