Have a great season!

Canyon Lake Business Network Sessions have been temporarily suspended
for the summer months and will return in September to run monthly
September – February. During this hiatus we will be collecting topics
of interest for the future meetings. Please send your ideas for
topics to ad...@canyonlakechamber.com. This next phase of meetings
will be bigger and better, so plan to join us again in September!

The Chamber’s July Business After-Hours Mixer July’s Mixer contributes
to the Serve & Protect Program and this year’s recipients are the
Constables from Districts 1 & 4, Shane Rapp & Ben Scroggin. The
Constables are pondering their highest needs. Defibrillators and
enhanced radar devices top the list. These two fine gentlemen patrol
Canyon Lake and the Guadalupe River areas for our community. Each
year Cathy Wingert of Wingert Insurance Agency challenges all other
insurance companies to meet or exceed her contribution, so watch for
upcoming details about that! Last year the Sheriff’s Office &
Officers received over $4,900 from the Serve & Protect Program that
purchased digital cameras for each patrol car, eliminating the sharing
of a few cameras among them all. That contribution was greatly
appreciated! Please keep this program in mind as July approaches.

Release refers to the amount of water being released from Canyon Lake
Reservoir into the Lower Guadalupe River in CFS (Cubic Feet per
Second). The Upper Guadalupe River is NOT affected by Canyon Lake.
The Upper River is affected by rainfall only.

Please Note: To confirm river flow downstream from the Dam, check with
our local outfitters.

REPORT FROM THE UPPER GUADALUPE: As of 12:45PM today, the Guadalupe
River was flowing approximately 1-1/2 feet above normal, and running a
little murky. Expectations are for the river to continue receding and
clearing up, in time for a great weekend on the water!

REPORT FROM THE LOWER GUADALUPE BELOW CANYON LAKE: Guadalupe River
flow below Canyon Dam is reported to be 4746cfs at 12:45PM today.
Outfitters are not recommending tubing or private boat trips; however,
some outfitters are providing guided raft trips and also bussing to
the upper Guadalupe River.

REPORTS FROM CANYON LAKE: Canyon Lake is at 917.36, where normal
level is 909. Preferred lake level is 910, allowing 1 foot of ‘extra’
water for recreation. As water comes into the lake under these higher
water conditions, water has to be released. At 1:00 PM today, water
is coming INTO the lake around 2470cfs. As of 12:45 today, 75% of
Potters Creek Park is closed; most of Canyon Park is closed. All
Corps of Engineers Boat Ramps are closed. Expectations are that
between 5-10 days lake level will normalize and closed boat ramps will
again open, as well as effected parks.

SEGUIN- After recent significant rainfall in the Central Texas area,
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACE) will increase the flow rate out
of Canyon Reservoir from 1,425 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 5,000
cfs on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 for approximately the next 10-14 days.
The Canyon Reservoir elevation is in flood pool stage at an elevation
of 917.32 feet above mean sea level (msl) and the inflow at the Spring
Branch gauge entering Canyon Reservoir is 3,100 cfs.

In areas above Canyon Reservoir reports indicate 3.77 inches of rain
had fallen in San Marcos since Thursday, 3.73 inches at Camp Mabry in
Austin and 2.38 inches at Bastrop. Reports show Canyon Lake received 3
inches of rain over the holiday weekend.

The Corps of Engineers is responsible for managing releases of water
from the Canyon Reservoir flood pool between elevations 909 and 943
mean sea level (msl). When the reservoir is at or below
‘conservation pool’ elevation of 909 feet, the Guadalupe-Blanco River
Authority (GBRA) is responsible for managing the stored water portion
and releases below 909 msl.

Canyon Dam and Reservoir was financed and completed in 1964 as a joint
project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and GBRA. The Reservoir
provides flood control benefits as well as a dependable water supply
and operates under permits granted by the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission (FERC).

On the subject of water and safe, fun recreation, CANYON LAKE CRUISES
has provided updated information on rates. Rates are ‘by the hour’
with a two-hour minimum at $75/hour, for one person or up to eight
persons (more if some are children). The boat’s passenger capacity is
2000 lbs. All cruises are private and accommodate the individual
activities and interests of the party. Guests are allowed to bring
food, snacks and beverages. All cruises depart from Boat Ramp #23.

attraction aimed at the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Every Friday
and Saturday night, beginning June 1st, the gates will swing open wide
at the Canyon Trail Chuckwagon Supper and Cowboy Music Show to welcome
guests of all ages.

The English Brothers Western Entertainers have partnered with Yogi
Bear’s Jellystone Park Hill Country resort to create a memorable
evening of mouth waterin’ vittles and the best family friendly hand
clappin’, knee slappin’ music and comedy in the Lone Star State.

Experience the era of the Great American cowboy and his life on the
trail, as you listen to tales of the Texas Longhorn and cattle drives
to the railheads in Kansas. Watch old movie clips of favorite western
film stars before the dinner bell rings. Then sit down to an
authentic smoked brisket supper with all the fixin’s. As you take
your last bite the stage lights kick on to start the show!

The English Brothers, all native Texans, will engage you as they
perform classic western tunes such as Cool Water and Ghost Riders in
the Sky. Their unique genetic vocal blend accompanied by pure
acoustic instrumentation will take you back to the sounds of the great
singing cowboys like the Sons of the Pioneers, Roy Rogers, and Gene
Autry. All will be amused by the brothers’ wholesome bunkhouse comedy
sure to make it an entertaining evening you won’t soon forget.
Without knowing it, they’ll have you back on the trail home hummin’
Tumblin’ Tumbleweeds.

Whether you’re a lone ranger, family, an organization or church group,
everyone is sure to enjoy!

Come for the Chuckwagon Supper Show or plan a leisurely extended stay
