PANICKED - My student invitiations are not being received

I am an individual instructor, not part of a system. I am not having luck adding my students into my class.

I have set up my course and followed directions for inviting students by following "How do I invite students into my course shell?" in the instructor guide
I went to People - Manage Users - Add users, then pasted in my students' email addresses and clicked "continue."
To check to make sure this worked, I included my own personal email address as a dummy student (using a different email address than my teacher email address)
However, I didn't receive an invitation in my dummy student's email in box or spam box, nor did any of my students accept invitations implying they didn't receive them either

I rechecked the "Settings" tab and all my students are there -- listed under "Current Users" who have not accepted.
So I tried the "re-send all unaccepted invitations" twice, and the message has came up that Canvas resent the invitations, but there is still no invitation in my dummy student's email in box or spam box

Next, I tried going to the main login page <https://canvas.instructure.com/>, where I had been told, as an alternative, students could go and find a a drop down menu and could select their class from it.
This page came up in my dummy student name, but there was no drop down menu selection of classes, and the welcome box said "You don't have any courses."

Next I tried going to my course web site (https://canvas.instructure.com/courses/765853) as the dummy student, and I got a big red "Unauthorized" message.

Help! What can I do to give my students access to their class?
