I tried to import a course, but we ran out diskspace and then the import failed, but the job never terminated. It has been running for 3 days now and preventing the ability to import other courses. The courses imports are stuck on queued.
The job strand is: migrations:import content/100..001

Question: How to clear the running job so the other courses will import?

Many thanks,
Tony

Tony,

If the job is not actually running, just restarting jobs on the server it _was_ running on should get it to realize that and retry. Otherwise, you can directly delete the job.

Thank you, Cody! The job persists when the server is restarted, and when the DB and data are restored in clean install. Where does one directly delete the job? The DB? Or is there a place in the UI?

Tony,

I apologize for the slow response. You can deleted the job in the UI at /jobs, or you can do it directly in the database in the delayed_jobs table.

Thanks, Cody! For some reason the UI wouldn't let me delete the job. I'll see if removing it from the DB allows the other jobs to run.

How old is your Canvas release? The ability to delete jobs from the UI was added some time ago.

I pulled the latest stable from Git in Aug 2016, so it is recent. The delete button is there, but the job will not delete. This happened when I tried to import a course from Canvas Commons and ran out disk space. The running job comes back with a restored db. I'll see if removing the job from table delayed_jobs and if that clears it and allows the jobs regular jobs to run.

Just to confirm: Removing the entry from the delayed_jobs table cleared the active job and jobs run as usual. Cody, thanks again for the location in the db!
