Hi,

I encountered errors when trying to add an external tool for Scorm Cloud in Canvas.  I entered the information displayed from Scorm Cloud (i.e. URL, Key and Secret after dispatching a course package and getting the BLTI information) into Canvas, then Canvas said there were invalid xml syntax in the "Configuration URL" field.  See the error screen as attached.

Not sure if it is the correct way to use Scorm cloud in Canvas.  I have contacted Scorm Cloud and they taught me how to "dispatch" and get the BLTI information but they were not sure how to proceed in Canvas.  Any one have experienced in using Scorm Cloud in Canvas, please share your experience.  Your assistance will be very much appreciated!

thanks,
Ken

Ken, when adding an external tool, the Configuration URL would be a resource containing instructions on how Canvas should set up the tool. Unless SCORM Cloud provides you with these instructions (as a URL), you should choose Manual Entry and enter your tool information in the fields as below.

Note: your privacy field may need to change depending on what kind of information SCORM cloud needs.

Hi Wes,

Thanks for your detailed information!  I finally got something working in Canvas with Scorm Cloud.  However, I am still confused about the role of Canvas and Scorm Cloud.  Is that correct to say that Scorm packages will have to be put in (and then streamed from) Scorm Cloud and Canvas will only "re-direct" users to the packages and hence the interaction results could be transmitted to Scorm Cloud?

Also about interaction results, will Scorm Cloud be able to capture all interactions provided by Scorm from Canvas?  I have read something from the internet saying that Scorm Cloud would only be able to capture the final results due to the implementation of external tools in Canvas. Not sure if it is still true now.  I hope there are clear instructions/documentation for me to refer to. ;)

thanks,
Ken
