I've just finished setting up canvas locally (on a Virtualbox VM) following the Production Start guide, and everything seems to have been installed correctly, but whenever I navigate to the VM's IP I receive a 403 Error saying "You don't have permission to access / on this server." Does anyone know what can be causing the problem? (The first time I opened it, it told me that I needed to accept an SSL certificate (the guide mentions this), so I accepted and now I get this  error.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Thank you in advanced.

what OS you used for canvas ?
if you use centos, you can use this manual : Installing Canvas with Centos 6.3
or
if you dont waste your time with installation, you can use turnkey linux canvas and then update it with the latest release from github.

Hi, I get the same error message after installing canvas. I followed the Production Start guide. My OS is Ubuntu 13.10 .

Did you manage to solve the issue? in such a case, could you please help me?

Thank you in advance.

I was able to get past that error message by added "Require all granted" without quotes to the canvas config file for apache.
