Hi!

As the Subject states, whenever I try to import/export a course, the system seems to hang on "Queuing" (or in the case of Exporting, a blank bar which doesn't fill). I've recently upgraded my version of Canvas to the latest version, and, because of that, have installed version 2.6.16 of Redis.  During the upgrading process, I copied all .yml files that were inside the "config" directory (and it was working with the old version), so things such as redis.yml have already been setup.

I took a quick look through the redis config file (/etc/redis/redis.conf) and it all looks normal. I've also looked at /jobs and found that there are jobs in the "Jobs List" (all jobs are at 0/X requests), but nothing in "Running Jobs" (even though the "Run At" field for jobs in the Jobs list is before the current time). I've also looked at the /error_reports (as well as redis's own logs), and they're not showing anything related to this situation.

I understand this is incredibly vague, but any help would be appreciated.

Feel free to throw me commands to give you guys more information.

Thanks!

I've managed to solve it, turns out the "automated jobs daemon" wasn't started; to fix this:

1. Go to whereever you've installed Canvas (e.g. /var/canvas/)
2. Go to scripts (e.g. /var/canvas/scripts)
3. run the Canvas_Init script (./canvas_init start)

And you should be good.

Hopefully this helps someone in the future! :)

by "installation isn't your own", do you mean if Instructure are hosting your Canvas Installation?

If so, what I wrote won't help you (since I'm running the 'open-source'/'self-hosted' version of canvas)-- you'll have to have a chat with Instructure support (https://help.instructure.com/home).

It is in the Quick Start guide, though with a different command (https://github.com/instructure/canvas-lms/wiki/Quick-Start#a-note-about-long-running-jobs) since the quickstart guide isn't tailored towards running in production mode.
