Virtual classroom plugin

Hello everyone,

i am new in Canvas LMS  and i want to create a plugin for virtual classroom as like "Conference"  option ,

is there any resource of 'creating a plugins for canvas' or some sample plugins , how we will insert and  delete data into a database ?

i used  "Quick Start Method" for creating a local server ,is it compulsory to have production environment for plugin development ?

Please advise ASAP.

Hey Mohseen, we don't have good documentation on this, the best I can point you at right now are the examples we have in the app: https://github.com/instructure/canvas-lms/tree/stable/gems/plugins.  Quick start development environment should be fine for this.

Thanks Simon, for  your quick response, 

I created a plugin as defined in http://guides.rubyonrails.org/plugins.html   in to a  "gems/plugins/"  folder ,  but it is not visible in the plugin list , is this wrong way to create a plugin for canvas ?

i am very greatfull  if you provide me some help on this   as i am new to canvas and offcourse  ruby on rails

Dear Simon,

can you please help on this https://github.com/instructure/canvas-lms/tree/stable/vendor/plugins/wiziq  so that i can have an idea to built a plugin
the above mention link is not working , kindly please help me getting some information on this .

Hi, I'm not sure where that link came from, but that particular plugin was deprecated and removed from the codebase back in November.  See this commit: https://github.com/instructure/canvas-lms/commit/1347a07467a24df34fd0192dbd84be9685ae0932

You may also want to look at the Adobe Connect plugin as an example of a plugin that provides a Conference option: https://github.com/instructure/canvas_connect
