Hi 

Can anyone help me with an app for a self hosted canvas lms system? also what are the differences between a normal and self hosted system?

You may have more luck describing what you want to do in more detail. What kind of app are you trying to build? What kind of help do you need?

The differences between the open source version of Canvas and a hosted instance are listed here. 

Canvas runs on the exact same code as we release to github, and as of this writing the code that we deploy to our production environment is pushed the same day to github. However, there are a few plugins and extensions that we provide for customers that we don't open source right now. These include:

• Multi-tenancy extensions

• Proprietary SIS integrations
  
• Migration tools for commercial LMSs
  
• Other minor customizations that only apply to our hosted environment

It would be an app that would allow for canvas lms to be used/more user friendly on phones, tablets etc, both on android and iOS. The current canvas by instructure mobile app doesn't allow for self hosted canvas lms. Is that enough info to give some insight?

Secondly how do I get my logo when going onto my self hosted lms system when using the likes of safari and google chrome on a phone eg. my current iPhone. It seems to only show my logo on a laptop and desktop. I'm not sure if that's enough info you require. If not please advice me on this.

You'll want to look at the Canvas REST API (http(s)://yourcanvas/doc/api -or- https://canvas.instructure.com/doc/api/). The official Instructure apps use the API for all of their functionality.
