Canvas LMS on CentOS 7

Has anyone had success with installing either Quick Start or Production Start on a CentOS 7 VM?

We run Canvas on RedHat, which is essential CentOS. Works fine, you just need to figure out the equivalent dependency packages to install.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was running to some difficulties translating the quick start/production guide that was written and tested for Ubuntu systems. There is hardly any guide out there for the latest RHEL/CentOS.

That's because Instructure uses Ubuntu, and they wrote the guide. There really doesn't need to be specific guides for every distro; it's just a matter of determining which dependencies you need and what they're called in your distro's package manager.

That said, the production guide is a publicly-editable wiki, so fee free to add a section on CentOS 😉

Graham, 

I am running to an issue with the installation for production. I have every exact packages install as closest as possible from the production guide and every time I reach the very last part I get this error:

[sysadmin@localhost canvas]$ sudo /etc/init.d/canvas_init start

/usr/share/rubygems/rubygems/core_ext/kernel_require.rb:55:in `require': cannot load such file -- bundler/setup (LoadError)

from /usr/share/rubygems/rubygems/core_ext/kernel_require.rb:55:in `require'

from /var/canvas/script/delayed_job:7:in `<main>'

Please let me know if you need additional information. I've exhausted all resources in trying to troubleshoot this issue to no avail.
