Custom grade scheme still an issue - unrecognized expression: .assessed_assignment?

Hi all,

We're selfhosting Canvas and are unable to set custom grade schemes for courses to this error:

Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: .assessed_assignment?

I see a thread on github regarding this for others encountering the same: https://github.com/instructure/canvas-lms/issues/2423

This doesn't appear to be an official fix, so hoping to get some quick guidance from Canvas directly regarding a way to fix this. I see a few options suggested in that GitHub thread.
