External tool Question

Hi All,

Can we add an External tool option in the Course Home Menu , in line with Assignments / Modules / Grades ? I am able to use while creating an assignment as external tool but just wanted to check if i can access the External tool w/o creating assignments.

You can put a tool in the menu, but if you need Grade Passback, you have to create it as an assignment. Otherwise Canvas doesn't create a gradebook column for it. If there is a way to dance around that issue, I'd love to know what it is!

Thanks for the response.

I want to access the External Provider from the Menu . However,  I will still create assignments as assignments to have Gradebook passback.

How to create a Menu item ?

The easiest thing is to use the redirect tool.
