Login Page not loading

I have installed canvas on ubuntu server. I am now trying to get it going, just on my server to test it out. When I navigate to localhost using Firefox, I can see the browser goes to localhost/canvas/login but just a blank page is displayed. Can you please assist as to where to search for the problem. I am pretty sure my configurations must somewhere be messed up, but where to start searching?

Looking at your server logs would be the first step, both the apache ones and the application ones (in /<pathtocanvas>/log/production.log or development.log, depending on how you installed Canvas).

<Thanks Graham. I get multiple errors in the Canvas Production.log reading "exception_message: you need to run webpack caused by you need to run webpack ..." This happens multiple times in the same log for trying the login page.
