what api could be used for sending message to Canvas user inbox

Hi

We have a student project to work on OnTask tool ( https://www.ontasklearning.org ), to make the mail out function of OnTask to send messages directly to student inbox in Canvas.

The student is researching in live API and the source code of Canvas ...

I am trying to help but with no success for conversation post api call in live api interface and postman.

Wondering anyone here have the experience or could kindly point us a direction to research into ?
