Yo,

These were my steps:
First 2.5 weeks: Forced myself to go through all of the fmCases in detail (about 45 min per case), taking some brief notes on big topics
Week 2.5-3.5: Read through all of the PDF summaries once and made handwritten study sheets with key concepts
Last day: Read through my study sheets once

I was sick right before the shelf and didn't have a lot of stamina/tolerance for studying for that one- I still did fine. I think the most helpful thing was working through the cases- it's just hard to actually force yourself to engage with them and not click through willy nilly.

Hope that helps!

Ditto to Kendra. Do the cases. Earlier is better than later. Will help in the clinic as well. Only thing I would add is the ambulatory section of step up to medicine and the ambulatory study guide on the internal medicine vc site are helpful resources as well. I would focus on the PDFs though.

Oh, and don't pay attention to the order they tell you to do the cases in for the Friday didactics because at least for us they didn't line up. Just get through them per Kendra's recs.

Agree with above. Shelf questions are generated directly from fmCases so going through those and studying the PDFs primarily are your best bet. The shelf emphasizes questions that ask "most likely" diagnoses and "next best" diagnostic and therapeutic plans.  I would focus on the differential for common complaints and what you would do to work those common complaints up.
