As-Salaamu 'Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah,
"New Dawn: Islamic History in Ethiopia, al-Andalus & North/West Africa"
by Dr. Shaykh Abdullah Hakim Quick
"Sayyidina ‘Amr ibn al-'Aas was visited by representatives of the Berber people who wanted to enter Islam. They were sent to the khalīfah ‘Umar b. al-Khaṭṭāb who welcomed them and shed tears when they described themselves. ‘Umar declared that the Prophet had prophesied the opening of the lands of people of this description (i.e. the Berbers)."

Coming back to the roots of true Islamic history, we examine the expansion of Islam into Africa and Muslim Spain, Al-Andalus. From the earliest journeys of the persecuted Muslims to Abyssinia during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), to the rise and fall of Islamic rule in Al-Andalus, this course will shed light on an often misunderstood and misinterpreted history of the region.
