Ihave an Ayon Audio S-5 network player and I'm evaluating what sounds best for playing digital 16 bit 44KHz music files. The S-5 has front and rear USB inputs and one Ethernet input for an NAS drive. I have the upgraded Synergistic Research Ethernet cable for the NAS drive. My NAS drive has two 3TB WD hard drives running in Raid. I would think the flash memory on the USB stick would be better since it's simpler (no NAS drive, power cable, and NAS power supply). I did buy a Samsung 500 gb SSD to play through the USB input but that didn't work. Any thoughts or suggestions? The goal is the best sound quality with no limits on cost. Is there any way to load USB stick software on the Samsung SSD so it would player digital music files from the USB input?

Thanks for all of the responses. I couldn't get the Samsung USB ssd to work. It was was formatted in FAT already. I reformatted it and loaded on album and no luck. Will try the SDXC approach sometime. I did finally compare my NAS drive sitting on top of a Synergistic Research Tranquility Base powered with a Synergistic Research Galileo power cable plugged into a SR PowerCell 12 UEF and this ran circles around the playing music off a USB stick. My stereotimes.com reviewing system includes the Acoustic Zen Crescendos, Ayon Audio S-5 network player, Ayon Audio Odin MKIII SET power amp, and many SR tweaks, SR Galileo single end interconnects and speaker cables.

This innovative, interactive music experience is made possible by a cooperation with the US music producer and AMG brand ambassador will.i.am. With his latest innovative hit, the Grammy winner turns you into the conductor and composer of your favourite music and all you have to do is drive from A to B.

The launch of MBUX SOUND DRIVE will start in mid-2024 and will be available for Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Benz with AMG Line vehicles equipped with the second generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system. As customers you will receive a notification when the MBUX software update is available in your region. You will then be able to download and install it over-the-air (OTA) using the update assistant on the MBUX media display or in the Mercedes me app.

There is a lot of madcap tech on display at CES 2024, from wearable ovens to beer-dispensing robots, but the big players in the automotive industry tend to avoid the really whacky stuff. Unless, of course, you are Mercedes-Benz.

But here's where it gets weird, because the looping, sweeping and soaring ambient 'performances' react to the way you drive, creating a "ground-breaking interactive music experience", according to Mercedes-Benz, and an innovative soundtrack to sonically-lackluster electric vehicles.

The idea came about when Will.i.am wanted to create a non-linear live music experience from his studio, but his love for cars (particularly Benzes, naturally) resulted in the two melding, creating a new way to listen to your favorite songs and soundtrack your drive.

To make this work, Will.i.am and his team of developers essentially got their hands on the master track of these recordings and then set about carefully deconstructing them. So as I slowly worked my way around Las Vegas, the soundtrack merely started off as an ambient, swirling version of the basic Black Eyed Peas melody.

Turning the steering wheel brought in some kick drums and splashes of synths, while distant vocals echoed around the cabin. As I picked up speed, the track started coming to life, sensing the energy of the drive and mirroring it with blasts of vocals and drums that seamlessly built to a head-bopping crescendo.

If you're stuck in traffic, it offers a mellow backing track, but start hitting the S-bends and the tunes really come to life. In fact, you can stick the EV in Park and 'rev' the engine to bring in bold, thumping bass.

Mercedes-Benz says an over-the-air update will see Sound Drive added to any vehicle equipped with the latest generation of its MBUX infotainment system, even those with engines. Although it works particularly well in EVs that lack the rip-roaring growl of an AMG V8.

The company plans to launch with hundreds of tracks, constantly adding to the library as new artists get on board. On that subject, Will.i.am was keen to point out that artists would get better royalties than they experience on popular streaming services.

Utilizing a suite of sensors and advanced software, MBUX SOUND DRIVE interprets various driving dynamics - such as recuperation, acceleration, steering, and braking - and converts them into musical expressions, allowing the driver to 'compose' in real-time.

Providing an immersive sound experience is just one part of the story. The long-term goal with MBUX SOUND DRIVE is to turn the technology into an open music platform. As a result, artists from around the world will be able to create tracks, representing any music genre, in a new immersive audio format using MBUX SOUND DRIVE studio software.

MBUX SOUND DRIVE rollout starts globally from mid-2024 and will be available on Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with the second-generation MBUX system.1 Existing Mercedes customers can access the MBUX Software Update via an over-the-air (OTA) update using the Update Wizard on their MBUX display or the Mercedes me app after receiving a notification that it is available in the U.S.

To fully demonstrate the capabilities of MBUX SOUND DRIVE, Mercedes-AMG is offering exclusive test drives at CES 2024. Visitors can head outside to the MBUX SOUND DRIVE stand at the Diamond Lot and book an experience in a Mercedes-AMG EQE Sedan or EQE SUV.

Mercedes-Benz is also offering media and visitors the opportunity to take part in an entertaining and informative discussion on this exciting technology. The topic will be presented by Mercedes-Benz CTO Markus Schfer together with will.i.am, who will explain the creative vision, the science, and future plans. The presentation will take place on January 9 at 2:30 PM PST at the Mercedes-Benz booth (Las Vegas Convention Center, West Hall, Booth 4941).

I am setting up a new 15ft x 20ft family room from scratch in my remodeled home. I have already run wiring for two ceiling speakers in the right and left rear of the room. My intent is to use those two ceiling speakers as surrounds for the TV, and as music emitters when the TV is not in use.

Since you have a pretty good size room, an LG C1, and are using an Apple TV 4K, I suggest getting the Sonos Arc. But keep in mind that music will play out of the Arc AND in-ceiling speakers with this setup. You cannot just play audio out of the in-ceiling speakers unless you unbond the Amp from the Arc first and the Amp is acting as its own room/zone.
